Kim Lawrence

Kim is currently Director of Marketing & Communications at the University of the Fraser Valley, where she is still getting used to dropping the “C”. Still recuperating from a frantic 19-week institutional repositioning and re-branding exercise at UFV over the summer, her team is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies; providing strategic counsel on awareness, reputation and positioning issues; and providing leadership in development of communications that support the diverse needs of UFV’s programs and departments.

A refugee from the high-tech industry, Kim has over 14 years marketing communications, branding, and public relations experience, covering the private and public sectors, both in Canada and internationally. Prior to joining UFV, an eight-year stint at Eastman Kodak Company provided her with the opportunity to drive corporate branding and re-branding activities on a global scale, as well as complex internal and external communications during restructuring situations. She takes great pride in being labeled “Orwellian” in her approach to brand consistency and is a devout believer in an integrated approach to marketing. Kim earned her undergrad degree from Queen’s University and a post-grad diploma in Asia-Pacific Management from Capilano College.
