Joan Collinge

Dr. Joan Collinge is currently the Dean, pro tem, of Continuing Studies at Simon Fraser University. Prior to assuming this position in July 2008, she served as the associate dean of Continuing Studies for six years while also holding the position of Director of the Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE).

Joan earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees at SFU, often working at the university as she put herself through school. She joined the university full-time in 1988 as a program director with CODE then became associate director and, in 2000, director.
Last year, Joan received an Honorary Member award from the Canadian Association of Distance Education in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions to distance education in Canada and beyond and for exemplary leadership in the association, where she served as editor of the Journal of Distance Education.
