President Job Description

POSITION TITLE:            
President, Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education - Ontario (CCAE-Ontario) 

TERM OF OFFICE:            
One year; may not be more than five consecutive years. 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The President  leads the affairs of the CCAE-Ontario through the activities of the Board of Directors, its Executive and its Committees. The President represents CCAE-Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:

The President is the chief volunteer officer of the CCAE-Ontario.

  • chairs all meetings of CCAE-Ontario
  • chairs all meetings of the Executive Committee of the Board
  • chairs the annual general meeting(s) of CCAE-Ontario
  • keeps informed about Educational issues as they affect the needs of CCAE-Ontario
  • serves as spokesperson for the CCAE-Ontario and is its representative at official functions 
  • presents adequate orientation for new and returning members
  • serves ex officio on all CCAE-Ontario committees and attends committee meetings when needed
  • sits on Nominating Committee
  • acts as one of the signing authorities for CCAE-Ontario bank accounts

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

  • knowledge of the CCAE-O terms of reference and goals
  • prior Board of Directors experience, is an asset
  • demonstrated leadership ability
  • experience in meeting management
  • proficiency in public speaking and good written communication skills
  • ability to work with a diverse advancement population and other post-secondary stakeholders

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

  • preparing for, leading  and following up on a minimum of three Board of Directors meetings (lasting approximately a half day) between May and April
  • ex-officio participation in committee meetings as required
  • attendance at all CCAE-Ontario annual general meeting(s)
  • participation at all CCAE-Ontario activities and events

LOCATION OF MEETINGS/EVENTS:

  • meetings are held at the location called by the President. Typically at least    two meetings a year are held in a Toronto location
