Purpose:
Facilitates and provides support for the development activities of the Dean, the Executive Director, Development and Alumni Relations, and development volunteers for the Schulich School of Business. Develop and implement fundraising policies and procedures to support the operations of the Development and Alumni Relations Department and research the potential for implementation of a constituent relationship management system for biographical and donation-related information. Identifies prospective donors, prepares solicitation materials and proposals for donations, solicits potential and past donors for gifts, and provides stewardship of past and new gifts. Supervises the Prospect Researcher and other assigned staff.
Education:
Post secondary education in a related field required, preference given to education at the Master’s level. Ongoing and current development training including courses at recognized educational institutions, workshops, seminars and conferences.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years development experience in a non-profit organization, preference given to candidates with previous experience in a post-secondary environment, with demonstrated responsibility for maintaining appropriate contact with donors and prospects, working with volunteers, supervising support staff, preparing research materials, maintaining databases and working in a team environment.
Skills:
Knowledge of the development process; scrupulous attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communications skills with excellent analytical ability. Donor oriented; Knowledge of research techniques and sources Ability to work independently; good-organizational skills. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated initiative. Experience with Windows and Network based electronic environments, a variety of online databases, CD ROMs and the Internet
