CCAE Director Profile - Julie Castle

Julie Castle, M.A.
Director-at-Large

Chief Advancement Officer / Director, Alumni Relations
Humber Institute

Profile:

Julie Castle joined Humber Institute as the Chief Advancement Officer in March 2008. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and has over 13 years of fundraising experience.

Julie began her fundraising career at North York General Hospital Foundation as campaign researcher, progressing to Manager of Major Gifts working in support of the $35 million Stand by Me Campaign. Prior to joining Humber, she was the Director of Major Gifts and Legacy Giving at Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, with responsibility for starting and building a Major Gifts Program that matured to support a $60 million campaign.

Julie’s experience prior to entering fundraising includes 9 years with the Ontario College sector, where she worked for ACAATO (now Colleges Ontario) as a Research and Policy Officer and the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training (now Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) as a Capital Analyst responsible for administering the college capital program that averaged $67 million annually.

In 2002, she received the AFP Outstanding New Fundraising Professional award and is currently a member of CASE, CCAE, and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.

Says Julie Castle of CCAE:

“I am new to CCAE, having joined at the same time I came to Humber three years ago. My team and I have attended the CCAE national conference and senior leader workshops, and participated in webinars.

I have particularly appreciated the opportunity to network with Canadian colleagues to share experiences and learn about best practices in educational advancement and alumni relations to incorporate into plans for Humber Advancement.

I am honoured and delighted to have the opportunity to help advance the mission and vision of CCAE in support of Canadian educational advancement professionals. I am excited to bring my experience to the CCAE national level and would like to see CCAE enhance network opportunities for small shops and those newer to Advancement through activities such as a mentorship program.”
