How can all areas of advancement pull together to maximize the impact of a major fundraising campaign, new marketing direction or student recruitment push? When schools integrate advancement efforts, they can pull together toward common goals. It is possible to harness resources more effectively and harmonize our school’s many voices.

Sessions at this one-day workshop will capture both the visionary and the practical, concluding with a lively panel discussion.

Maximize Campaign Effectiveness by Integrating Your Advancement Shop
Lorna Somers, Director of Development, McMaster University
Mary Williams, Associate Vice-President, University Advancement, McMaster University

Who knew that Twister, billed in the 1970s as "The game the whole family can play!", could become a metaphor for structuring and running a successful campaign? Well, it's true. The key to real success - not only for your organization but for every aspect of the Advancement shop, large or small - is getting everyone involved and engaged. And not just in word, but in deed as well. Prepare to stretch it out and twist it up as we talk about our experiences in both integrated and not-so-integrated campaigns.

Stay True to Your Brand: Coherent Messaging Across Your School
Susan Bloch-Nevitte, Executive Director, Communications, of the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario

David Estok, Vice President, Communications, Sick Kids Foundation

It's information overload out there. In fact, the last 30 years have produced more information than in the previous 5,000. So if your message isn't clear and consistent across the institution, you're wasting your breath, and my time. Stop the madness. Learn what works and what doesn't when there's only an elevator ride's time to tell them who you are.

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Lunch & Networking

The Campus-Wide Impact of Internationalism in Advancement
Doug Mann
, Executive Director of Advancement, Trinity College School

Doug will share his international advancement experiences from the University of Alberta and Trinity College School. The focus will be on international major gift projects and coordination with alumni relations, student recruitment and academic research.

The session will unfold in three parts, with plenty of examples: (1) What I have learned so far about the impact of internationalizing advancement activities. (2) What others with more international experience have shared with me. (3) Ideas to take back to your organization and for our panel discussion.

2:15 – 2:45 p.m.
