CCAE Workshop for Senior Advancement Leaders

CCAE in partnership with The Offord Group presents:

Offord Group CCAE Workshop for
Senior Advancement Leaders

Friday, April 30, 2010
Rotman School of Management
University of Toronto
9:00 a.m. to 4:300 p.m.

CCAE is pleased to present a one-day workshop designed specifically for Senior Advancement Leaders. Our program will address the myriad human resources issues facing advancement leaders in today’s challenging environment, along with a facilitated afternoon of in-depth discussion.

Our host will be David Palmer, Vice-President and Chief Advancement Officer at the University of Toronto. This workshop is open by invitation only and is non-transferable.

The morning will focus on uncovering critical human resource trends and research. The first session, lead by Penelope Burk, will explore career mobility in our industry and its effect on fundraising performance. Penelope will provide an overview of her research that addresses how chief executives play a tangible role in staff retention and bottom-line performance.

We will uncover the latest on talent management and learn results from organizational performance research at the Conference Board of Canada. Quentin Hill Advisor on Organizational and Business Effectiveness, will speak on a variety of issues: winning the war for new talent, trends in retention, engagement strategies, plus innovative performance management and leadership development ideas.

Over the course of an informal lunch, we will have a chance to mingle with colleagues.

After lunch, Quentin Hill will facilitate an informal discussion of questions raised during the morning presentations. This interactive session will be an excellent opportunity to share relevant ideas and innovations in developing your HR practices.

This is a senior-level workshop for vice-presidents, chief advancement officers, executive directors (or whatever the title at the specific school) and is by invitation only. If you need any further information or have any questions, please contact If you have any questions about whom CCAE should invite from your school, Mark Hazlett, CCAE Executive Director, at haz@ccaecanada.org or 506-474-0838 or the CCAE national office at 613-531-9213 .

How to hold onto good fundraisers and make much more money

Speaker: Penelope Burk, President, Cygnus Applied Research

Penelope Burk tackles one of the not for profit industry’s most frustrating and costly problems: the high turnover rate of fundraisers.

Backed by two years of research with more than 2,000 development professionals, CEOs, Board members and donors, this session offers surprising statistical evidence about why good fundraisers move on prematurely and what it will take to keep them on the job longer and working productively.
