POSITION OUTLINE:
As a member of a team reporting to the Director, Alumni Relations, the Manager, Alumni Relations is responsible for participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative and effective programs designed to positively engage alumni with SFU and the Alumni Association. The incumbent of the position supports the delivery of alumni programs encompassing marketing, communications, events, benefits and services, outreach, and volunteerism. The incumbent of the position assists the Director in the development and implementation of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to raise the profile of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Association, and alumni achievements, within the local, national and international community. The Manager works closely with various stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, alumni, Alumni Association Board, volunteers, and supporters. The Manager contributes to the strategic planning for Alumni Relations and the Alumni Association.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree with four years of related non-profit management experience including
experience in planning, program management, marketing, communications, public relations,
events management, fundraising, and relationship management, or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience.
- Good knowledge of principles and methods for the operation of successful volunteer and alumni
programs.
- Good knowledge of print and online marketing techniques including direct mail, e-newsletters,
e-vites, e-mail campaigns, surveys.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills including ability to work collaboratively and effectively
with corporate partners, senior level volunteers, university administrators, faculty, staff, students
and alumni.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking/presentation skills and
copywriting/editing skills.
- Skilled in website management and web applications including social networking tools.
- Proven ability to independently set goals, establish priorities, meet deadlines and budgets, and
accomplish results with minimal direction including managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email, image editing,
design, content management (CMS), and web analytics applications.
- Competency with computer-based records systems, basic research skills, statistical/data analysis,
basic accounting procedures, and Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy Act regulations.
SALARY RANGE: $58,802 - $70,218 per annum
START DATE: ASAP
