Marketing and Communications is critical to the profile and viability of The Banff Centre. The goals of the department are to effectively position The Banff Centre as a globally recognized centre for creativity, to assist programs in recruiting quality participants, to promote events that showcase our participants, faculty, and guest artists, and to assist Conferences, Hospitality, and Fitness and Recreation areas in maximizing enterprise revenue.
- Reporting to the Executive Director Marketing and Communications, the Director, Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing plans and strategies for programs, events, and departments.
Responsibilities
- Increase the quality and quantity of applicants to programs, to maintain or increase participation in programs and program-affiliated conferences, and to maintain or increase audience numbers for events.
- Support the financial objectives of programs, events, and departments by assuring FLE targets for programs and audience numbers for events are achieved.
- Research, write, implement, and evaluate marketing plans in collaboration with program areas and departments at the Centre. The goal of this position is to increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of programs, events, and services of The Banff Centre.
- Recruit, train, and performance manage a highly effective marketing team.
- Lead the implementation of marketing plans/campaigns, including the production of marketing materials.
- Update and create relevant contact databases for the successful implementation of marketing plans.
- Ensure The Banff Centre establishes a presence at relevant outreach and promotional events such as Trade Shows, Information Sessions, and Fams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or a college diploma in a related area.
- Progressively responsible (5 years) management experience in directly related skill areas.

Experience in the post-secondary sector and/or arts and culture is an asset.
Special Requirements
- Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check through the local R.C.M.P. detachment, verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be made.
This is a Management/PSP position, with a one year probationary period.
