Description:

The Senior Development Officer (SDO), under the general direction of the Executive Director, Development & Alumni Relations, provides both leadership and administrative support to the development and implementation of fund raising programs at the University of Toronto Scarborough. In particular, the SDO has the responsibility to identify and cultivate donors at the $25,000 plus level. The incumbent is responsible for developing tailored programs to identify and gain/enhance the interest and involvement of individuals who directly, or through other sources, are capable of making gifts at this level. He/she will also ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donor's involvement, interest and support. The active involvement of key members of the university community and volunteers is essential to the overall success of such a program. The SDO will be involved in the training of volunteers in cultivation and solicitation activities. He/she will also be responsible for making solicitation calls, as appropriate.
Regular hours of work: (Monday to Friday - 8:45 am to 5:00 pm) and frequent evenings and weekends (flexible work schedule).

Candidate(s) must have a minimum

Education: University degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: At least five years involvement in a staff fund raising role with a proven track record of success.
Skills: Strong computer skills and literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Other: Demonstrated major gift development experience; ability to work in a hectic and results oriented environment; exceptional personal and communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills. Evidence of leadership and initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, creativity; proven ability to motivate and manage others, i.e. volunteers and staff.
