POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will play a key role in raising support through major gifts and strategic partnerships for campus redevelopment projects and student awards and scholarships. The primary responsibilities of the incumbent will be to lead and support successful stewardship visits and solicitations to individuals, corporations and foundations, engaging Humber staff, faculty and senior volunteers as appropriate; provide logistical and coaching support to members of the Friends of Humber Committee to support successful volunteer involvement and outcomes; and prepare customized material for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship calls. In addition, the incumbent will actively participate in the identification and qualification of top prospects and in the identification and recruitment of volunteers for the Friends of Humber Committee; participate in prospect coordination, review and strategy sessions; prepare gift and partnership agreements and acknowledgements, ensuring prompt, tailored, accurate thank-you messages and letters, as appropriate; ensure that detailed call notes are recorded for prospect tracking in a timely manner; and participate in strategic business planning and analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a minimum of a three year diploma or degree, along with 3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment. CFRE designation and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge are considered strong assets, as is a track record of success in closing major gifts of $25,000+ in higher education. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience creating and implementing customized cultivation and solicitation strategies; a customer service focus with an aptitude for building relationships that lead to a major gift; and the ability to mobilize, motivate and to bring out the best in volunteers and staff at all levels. Additional skills include: superior oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational and time-management skills, working towards strategic goals with deadlines; demonstrated initiative and ability to apply strategic thinking; an enthusiastic team player with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; and a well-developed level of computer literacy, specifically in MS Office.
