Sarah Indewey (2007)

Queen’s graduate (BAH’01) Sarah Indewey began her career in alumni relations
working with Queen’s School of Business in 2002. She joined the Office of
Advancement in June 2004 as Alumni Officer (Classes, Reunions and Events).
Homecoming, Queen’s largest alumni event, attracting some 7,000 alumni and
their families annually, was staged seamlessly within a few short months of her arrival.
In addition to flawless execution, these events benefited from enhanced programming,
processes, and post-event analysis thanks to Sarah.
Sarah takes pride in finding ways to automate, streamline, and otherwise
minimize what she smilingly refers to as the amount of “stupid time” we spend
on processes or tasks at the office. In 2005 she encouraged Queen’s to find an
events-management software package that would allow our alumni to register for
events online, easing the demand on existing resources. Once this new software
was in place, she immediately set out to customize the system to support the needs
in Advancement, through extensive consultation, and authored an easy-to-use
procedural manual to assist users. She developed and conducted a comprehensive
training program and remains a key resource for the system.
Sarah has demonstrated a strong commitment to her professional development
and is a volunteer at both the professional and community levels. In addition to her
professional and alumni service, Sarah is an artist and promotes boating history on
the St. Lawrence River.
Sarah displays a positive attitude every single day she comes to work. Her
genuine care for her colleagues and alumni, strong work ethic, and belief that we
should always have fun, are gifts that she shares with every colleague. No challenge
is insurmountable to her and she takes pleasure in guiding others to successful
outcomes. When you combine that talent with strategic thinking, attention to detail
and positive attitude you have a rising star – one who takes our profession to a whole
new level and becomes its future!
